About
I studied Industrial Product Design, at the University of Ferrara, in Italy.
The field of studies I have followed has allowed me to have different kind of knowledge, ranging from the design of an object, the study of the context in which it should be added, to create an image of the product. During these past years in Ferrara I developed the feeling of waiting for something special from design, something that was not only strictly related to technical aspects of the project, something that goes beyond what you can see or say about a project.
Semiotic studies and my final thesis drove me to re-evaluate the concept of design and I ended up focusing on smart cities. Starting from the study of the spaces in which objects are placed and the types of interconnections one object/product can have with other ones, I identified with the final user and tried to understand the impact that my product will have on those who will see, use and desire it.
A product can target a niche audience or involve people from different backgrounds. I realized that my desire to do design is essentially linked to people, in general, with all their diversity, strengths and weaknesses.
Man is a rational being, that explains why we need to tie emotion and instinct with reason, in order to create environments, objects, public awareness and hence bringing man to be human in every aspect. Design’s role cannot be reduced to the functionality or to the aesthetics of a product, it depends on people's desires and it changes every time, with them.
