The workshop is based on the concept of “thoughtless acts” referred to Jane Fulton Suri (industrial design researcher) and IDEO (a global design consultancy firm) in their book "Thoughtless Acts? Observations on Intuitive Design". Thoughtless acts are our interpretations about the stuff around us. They are the “… intuitive ways we adapt, exploit, and react to things in our environment; things we do without really thinking”. These mundane but creative acts that are often taken for granted show how we interact with the given material world in our everyday life. We recognize the possibilities of different objects, materials, spaces, forms and textures and -most of the time unconsciously- engage with them in order to enable our lives. Could these observations be inspirational for designers? Could they be used to generate new design ideas? Could they inspire thoughts about design opportunities? These mundane but creative acts that are often taken for granted show how we interact with the given material world in our everyday life. We recognize the possibilities of different objects, materials, spaces, forms and textures and -most of the time unconsciously- engage with them in order to improve our lives.
